Research

If there was only more time in the day to spend digging through the vast amount of resources now available up on the internet.  Never before has it been easier to learn and develop new ideas.  Items of current interest are here.

Data Analysis

As the amount of data in the world piles up making sense of it and putting it in a usable form is important.  We develop software to manage, query and structure data.  Further using graphic cards with their hundreds of core processors to parallelize data problems and process them at far greater speeds then ever possible with standard desktop machines.

Medical – CRPS, Diet, TSI, Nervous System, Pain Management

An area that is rather dear to me, the issues of Carpel Tunnel, and other RSI related injuries.  Everything from causes, to preventative measures, results of surgeries and statistics on such.  In this industry its becoming far more then just an occupational hazard; it can be a forced early retirement.  In the United States chronic pain costs us over fifty four billion dollars a year.

Voice Code

As the name describes its using your voice to code software; an extension to speech recognition.  Coding via speech recognition has usually been a daunting task.  Though voice recognition has come far in the way of command handling and dictation even a simple ‘for’ loop can be a very wordy sentence to try to speak.  For example:  “for open paren i equals 0 semi-colon i is less then object period get length open paren close paren semicolon i plus plus close paren’”  Voice Code is the research on ways to optimize this using current technologies.

Voice Recognition

Typical speech recognition (SR) items such as dictation and voice command.  Since Microsoft Office 2003, their particular SR engine has continued to improve.  The out of the box accuracy with a decent headset in vista and a simple five minute training session is excellent.  A good microphone is key.  Windows 7 expands on this.  Other products like Dragon Dictate are also excellent choices as well.
